History of Architecture Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
History of Architecture - Essay Example With a viable evenness, one-portion of the structure is a precise copy of the other half. Such an area is basic in deciding the quality and he capacity to the whole structure sine it impacts the measure of weight that a designer connects on either side. The Facade of Pallao Chiericati is one of Palladioââ¬â¢s most noticeable work. The evenness among other relevant parts of the structure is like those in the early Roman culture. He utilizes the comparative rectangular states of the structures common in the early society yet he further looks to accomplish magnificence and toughness by adjusting the structures and the plan of the structures, another element in the Roman engineering that is representative of his time. Segments then again allude to the strong upstanding structures that help the whole weight of the structure. This is one of the most significant part of a development and requires compelling thought so as to accommodate with the absolute load of the structure. In structur ing his segments, Palladio complemented his plans with acanthus leaf capitals at the highest point of the bars. The Roman structures had more grounded segments, which similarly as in some other structure bolstered the structures. Be that as it may, he included the plan as a methods for accomplishing expanded tasteful highlights of his structure, in this manner turning into a significant differentiation of his works and the new period in design that he spearheaded. Palladioââ¬â¢s works laid more significance on the balance and point of view of the structure. He created more grounded and adjusted structures and consolidated a greater amount of his innovativeness on the design of the structures subsequently making them notorious delights. He acquired such parts of the Roman culture in this manner procuring significance among them yet fused his own inventiveness a component that denoted the change between the two compositional periods. Among the most widely recognized highlights he u tilized in embellishing his works included scallop shells, run of the mill themes in the Greek and Roman expressions. They utilized pediments to brighten entryways and windows (Alain, 2009). Also, covers that were significant themes in the early society were utilized on the inside enrichment of structures. The expanded embellishments added weight to the structure accordingly requesting more grounded sections and bars to help. Palladio accomplished this through the exact thought of evenness and viewpoint of his work along these lines developing more grounded bases equipped for withstanding the extreme weight coming about because of the heavier dividers and rooftops. The uniqueness of the plan emerged from the way that he utilized straightforward and normal materials yet with them created more grounded and increasingly stable structure, which typified magnificence of the current societies (Giovanni, 1980).He planned basic structures, which he created in blocks and canvassed in plaster . The plaster dividers spoke to the Roman Villa topology. Along these lines, he maintained the Roman culture in the specialty of manor developments. Critique of Academic Journal Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Evaluate of Academic Journal - Essay Example In any case, this present decent variety's steady move into the ordinary corporate field has carried with it a couple of negative results (Kelan 2009). It makes it harder to manage occasions of unobtrusive victimization ladies (Calas and Smircich 2006). This assorted variety basically dispenses with the more evident sorts of sexual orientation separation while permitting the mentalities that help such practices to go unchallenged (Gill 2007). For example, ladies are generally excluded from the systems administration that happens among the men in the working environment, just as from chipping away at with the businessââ¬â¢s most conspicuous legal advisors (Nentwich 2006). At the point when ladies are stood up to with such circumstances in a period that has really had laws gone to help their working in the work environment, they are probably going to imagine that they are the ones who are either excessively self-important, or cold, and subsequently are difficult to approach for work ing environment kinships (Johns, Schmader and Martens 2005). They are not liable to assume that the explanation behind their being kept separate from things is on the grounds that they are ladies (Crump, Logan and McIlroy 2007). Evaluate Gender weariness is productive on the grounds that it alarms the general public that even with the current laws and guidelines that urge ladies to work; ladies are as yet not treated similarly as men in the work environment (Lewis 2006). For example, in an ongoing examination led in a business situation, it was built up that male specialists disregard what may give off an impression of being sex segregation since they liken their smoothness in such occurrences with demonstrating resilience or acknowledgment (Bailyn 2003). Female laborers, then again, feel that on the off chance that they work more diligently, they will have the option to change the psyches of chauvinist managers (Blau, Brinton and Grusky 2006). In such cases, it tends to be called a ttention to that ââ¬Ëgender fatigueââ¬â¢ is a fitting clarification for such pusillanimous conduct with respect to laborers (Ely, Meyerson and Davidson 2006).â Elizabeth Kelanââ¬â¢s article on sex weakness seems to raise a bona fide issue that may really be one reason adding to the proceeding with imbalance that ladies involvement with the working environment. The way that her review members demonstrated that they had known about instances of segregation indicated that such cases despite everything exist even in a period where numerous individuals feel that the objectives of ladies being for all time acknowledged in the work environment have been adequately tended to. The way that the laborers being overviewed referenced that cases of sexual orientation separation generally occur in solitary scenes and not all in all likewise contributes toward the ââ¬Ëgender fatigueââ¬â¢ hypothesis. In the event that the occurrences of victimization ladies occurred in mass, the res istance would have been progressively vocal. Be that as it may, cases where a few ladies are victimized and not others are not as obvious and can make questions emerge when revealed. à On the other hand, sexual orientation weariness the article by Elisabeth Kelan on sex weakness expresses that the laborers that she utilized in her investigation were not just persuaded that their organizations were impartial, and were inspected on merit. These patrons additionally cited insights on sexism from the past a couple of decades. This implies the circumstance may have changed over the most recent couple of years; and that if sexual orientation disparities despite everything exist, the

Pasig River free essay sample
In the prior years huge scope advancement of Metropolitan Manila, the Pasig River was contrasted with the Grand Canal of Venice as it ââ¬Å"serpentedâ⬠inland, encircled on the two banks by patches of lavish greenery and its water clear and unrestricted by waste or garbage. Be that as it may, movement joined with high populace development brought about an unmatched blast in the size of Metropolitan Manila. The disappointment of the metropolisââ¬â¢ contamination control systems to stay up with this populace development has seen Pasig River become an enormous dumping ground for trash, sewerage and modern contamination. The Pasig River is currently one of the dirtied waterway in the Philippines. In the 1990ââ¬â¢s its water was portrayed as dull, cloudy and foul; and its banks multiplied by businesses releasing untreated wastewater and casual pioneers living in braces and improvised houses utilizing the stream as their can and trash dump. The Pasig River twists commonly north-westbound for somewhere in the range of 25 kilometers (15. We will compose a custom article test on Pasig River or on the other hand any comparative subject explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page 5â mi) from the Laguna de Bay, the biggest lake in the Philippines, to Manila Bay, in the southern piece of the island of Luzon. From the lake, the waterway runs between Taguig City, and Taytay, Rizal, before entering Pasig City. This segment of the Pasig River, to the juncture with the Marikina River tributary, is known as the Napindan River or Napindan Channel. From that point, the stream frames the basic fringe between Makati City toward the south and Pasig City, trailed by Mandaluyong City toward the north. The stream at that point strongly turns upper east, where it has become the fringe among Mandaluyong and Manila before turning again westbound, joining its other significant tributary, the San Juan River, and afterward finishing a twisted way the focal point of Manila before purging into the straight. The entire stream and most segments of its tributaries lie altogether inside Metro Manila, the metropolitan area of the capital. Isla de Convalescencia (14â °35? 26? N 120â °59? 20? E), the main island isolating the Pasig River, can be found in Manila and it is the place the Hospicio de San Jose is found. One significant waterway that channels Laguna de Bay is the Taguig River, which goes into Taguig before turning into the Pateros River; it is the outskirt between the districts of Pateros and Makati City. Pateros River at that point enters the conjunction where the Napindan Channel and Marikina River meet. The Marikina River is the bigger of the two significant tributaries of the Pasig River, and it streams southward from the mountains of Rizal and slices through the Marikina Valley. The San Juan River depletes the level on which Quezon City stands; its significant tributary is Diliman Creek. Inside the city of Manila, different esteros (channels) confuse through the city and associate with the Tullahan River in the north and the Paranaque River toward the west The development of Manila along the banks of the Pasig River has made it a point of convergence for improvement and chronicled occasions. The premier milestone on the banks of the waterway is the walled area of Intramuros, situated close to the mouth of the stream on its southern bank. It was worked by the Spanish pioneer government in the sixteenth century. Further upstream is the Hospicio de San Jose, a halfway house situated on Pasigs sole island, the Isla de Convalescencia. On the northern bank stands Malacanang Palace, the official home of the President of the Philippines. Additionally on Pasig Rivers northern bank and inside the Manila locale of Sta. Plateau is the fundamental grounds of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. In Makati City, along the southern bank of Pasig, is the Sta. Ana Racetrack and the Rockwell Commercial Center, a very good quality office and business zone containing the Power Plant Mall. At the intersection of the Pasig and Marikina streams is the Napindan Hydraulic Control Structure, which manages the progression of water from the Napindan Channel. The Pasig River is actually a tidal estuary, as the stream bearing relies on the water-level contrast between Manila Bay and Laguna de Bay. During the dry season, the water level in Laguna de Bay is low and the stream course of the Pasig River relies upon the tides. During the wet season, when the water level of Laguna de Bay is high, stream is regularly from Laguna de Bay towards Manila Bay. The Pasig River is powerless against flooding in the midst of substantial precipitation, with the Marikina River tributary the principle wellspring of the floodwater. The Manggahan Floodway was built to redirect overabundance floodwater from the Marikina River into the Laguna de Bay, which fills in as an impermanent repository. By plan, the Manggahan Floodway is fit for taking care of 2,400 cubic meters for each second of water stream, in spite of the fact that the genuine stream is around 2,000 cubic meters for every second. To supplement the floodway, the Napindan Hydraulic Control System (NHCS) was worked in 1983 at the conversion of the Marikina River and the Napindan Channel to direct the progression of water between the Pasig River and the lake. History Before the mass urbanization of Manila, the Pasig River filled in as a significant methods for transport; it was the citys life saver and focus of financial action. Probably the most unmistakable realms in early Philippine history, including the realms of Namayan, Maynila, and Tondo grew up along the banks of the stream, drawing their life and wellspring of riches from it. At the point when the Spanish set up Manila as the capital of their pilgrim properties in the Far East, they manufactured the walled city of Intramuros on the southern bank of Pasig River close to its mouth. After World War II, enormous populace development, framework development, and the dispersal of monetary exercises to Manilas rural areas left the stream ignored. The banks of the stream pulled in casual pioneers and the rest of the manufacturing plants dumped their losses into the waterway, making it adequately a colossal sewer framework. Industrialization had just dirtied the waterway. 3] In the 1930s, onlookers saw the expanding contamination of the waterway, as fish relocation from Laguna de Bay reduced. Individuals stopped utilizing the waterways water for washing during the 1960s, and ship transport declined. By the 1970s, the stream began to exude hostile scents, and during the 1980s, angling in the waterway was disallowed. By the 1990s, the Pasig River was viewed as naturally dead Rehabilitation and Relocation Efforts Rehabilitation endeavors started in 1991 with the assistance of the Danish guide office DANIDA. The Asian Development Bank gave the administration of the Philippines an advance of $200 million to actualize a 15-year long ghetto update program for Metro Manila which incorporates the restoration of the Pasig River. This advance is under the conditions that the movement and occupations of the illicit vagrants have equivalent significance as the ecological part of the restoration. The general target of the recovery is to improve ecological administration especially with squander water the executives and urban restoration. There are even discussions about utilizing Laguna de Bay for drinking water to flexibly the developing populace of Metro Manila, depending on the prerequisite that the stream and encompassing conduits are cleaned and kept clean. Plans are being actualized for a dam to be worked at the passageway to the Pasig River at Laguna de Bay to keep rising waters out of the stream during stormy season to keep significant regions of the city from flooding, however this is going under extraordinary contention as the individuals living around Laguna de Bay would need to manage flooding. Do to the way that most of the individuals living on the edges of the stream are illicit vagrants, it is hard to screen the measure of trash of waste or to treat both of them. It is assessed that 65% of the waste streaming down the Pasig River is because of these unlawful settlement towns. Philippine law expresses that the administration has the legitimate option to migrate the individuals in these unlawful settlements to 3m away from the shore of the stream. This is under debate as the administration needs individuals to be 10m away from the streams edge to guarantee that the waterway remains clean, to include a support zone against potential flooding, to make parks and walkways, and to permit access for boats and crisis administrations. This was authoritatively changed during the Joseph Estrada organization when the Metro Manila Development Authority changed the law from 3m to 10m. This is under discussion as the MMDA doesn't have the position to change a national law. During the organization of Fidel V. Ramos, roughly 5000 families were moved to suburbia. There are roughly 700,000-750,000 individuals are being influenced by the movement of illicit settlements along the Pasig River. This incorporates individuals that are being moved away from the shores of Laguna de Bay, the Pasig River, and the entirety of its tributaries. Around 10,000 illicit pioneers will be migrated to Calauan, Philippines, which is on the southern shore of Laguna de Bay. They will be migrated into an earth inviting lodging venture. Numerous others are being migrated to Bulacan, Rodriguez, and Montalban. The primary issue that the administration is looking with the migration of individuals is that an enormous number of the moved individuals move back to Manila into an alternate shanty town because of the way that they work in Manila and it is elusive work in numerous different places on Luzon. Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay expressed ââ¬Å"Aside from employment, there ought to be transportation assistanceâ⬠. He is alluding to having a type of helped transportation for these urban poor with the goal that they can live in suburbia yet at the same time work each day in Manila. The illicit vagrants who got money related help got P24,240. The individuals who have picked to be migrated or who have essentially been compelled to move by the legislature have been moved to: 1. Would the ERA Force Women Into Combat
Throughout the 1970s, Phyllis Schlafly warned of the dangers of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the United States Constitution. She declared that the ERA would take away legal rights and benefits women already possessed, rather than conferring any new rights. Among the rights that would be taken away, according to Phyllis Schlafly, were the right of women to be exempt from the draft and the right of women to be free from military combat. (See A Short History of E.R.A. in the Phyllis Schlafly Report, September 1986.) Drafting Mothers?Phyllis Schlafly called the law that made 18-year-old male citizens eligible for the draft classic sex discrimination, and she did not want that discrimination to end. The ERA was passed by the Senate and sent to the states in 1972, with a 1979 deadline for ratification. The draft, or military conscription, ended in 1973, and the U.S. moved to an all-volunteer military. However, there was a concern that the draft may be reinstated. ERA opponents evoked the fear of mothers being taken from their children, describing a scene in which a child watches war news and worries about when mother will come home, while dad scrubs the floor.Apart from the obvious gender stereotypes in such images, the feared outcome was not accurate about which women would eventually be drafted, if there were ever a draft again. The official 92nd Congress Majority Report of the Senate Judiciary Committee analyzed the effects the ERA would have. The committee report said the fear that mothers would be conscripted from their children was unfounded. Many women would be exempt from service just as many men were exempt from service. There were service exemptions for many reasons, in cluding dependents, health, public official duties, etc. Women in Combat? The ERA ultimately fell three states short of ratification. Even without an amendment guaranteeing equal rights, womens duties in the U.S. military brought them closer and closer to combat during the next few decades, particular during the early 21st century in Iraq and Afghanistan. By 2009, The New York Times reported that women were patrolling streets with machine guns and serving as gunners on tanks, even if they technically could not be assigned to infantry or Special Forces duty. Phyllis Schlafly remained consistent in her position. She continued to oppose any new efforts to pass the ERA, and she continued to speak out against women in combat during the George W. Bush administration.

Violence in Music Videos and Music Lyrics has a negative impact on children. Music videos that expose profanity and sexuality are inappropriate and leave a negative impression on young children. Violence in music videos can cause health problem. Music videos that promote negative lyrics are affecting young children. Music lyrics with vulgar languages affect the development and well-being of young children. For example, the study author (Stone, 2009) found ââ¬Å"that music with explicit references to drugs, sex or violence can be associated with negative effects on school work behavior and emotionsâ⬠(p. 2). Media violence not only provokes violence among children, it provokes sexual behaviors. Their empathy decreases and they are less willing to help others. Children become antisocial spending less and less time inte racting with family members, friends, and playing. They are controlled by what is occurring on the screen in front of them, locking themselves up in their rooms, or away from others just to play endless hours of video games. Video games have progressed over recent years becoming far more violent, sophisticated, and addictive. Studies have shown that the effects of video games and aggressive behavior follow almost the same pattern as that of studies with violent media such as cartoons. Cartoon violence also leaves a negative impact on children. After the Columbine School shooting, attention shifted from television to other media, such as cartoons. Cartoons in America, generally for children, also form a surprisingly large source of violence. (Clark, 2009) stated ââ¬Å"HIGH levels of violence in cartoons such as Scooby-Doo can make children more aggressive.â⬠This behavior includes verbal and psychical aggression. Emotional Intelligence and Effective Nursing Leadership
Question: Discuss about the Emotional Intelligence and Effective Nursing Leadership. Answer: Background This paper will strongly highlight the emotional interest and effective nursing leadership that can impact the patient experience in a beneficial way. Thus the expected outcomes cannot be derived. It is very necessary to first assess or identify the relevant patients so that correct treatments can be provided to them so that they can be treated well (Feldman, Alexander, Greenberg, 2011). The health care systems around the entire world are emphasising widely on the need for an effective patient care. Taking utmost care of the patients is very much necessary to ensure that the health problems of those individuals are successfully recovered. Under the leadership of the nursing professionals, the well being and better health conditions of the patients can be ascertained (Marquis Huston, 2009). Due to the lack of patient convenience they often fail to express their health problems with the nurses and thus proper care treatment cannot be provided. Emotional intelligence is that personal characteristic borne by the nurses influencing the nursing practices, medicinal knowledge and other health care related professions. Hence this paper will focus on how emotional intelligence can enhance the quality of the patients health both directly and indirectly. Purpose and objectives The prime purpose of this research is to evaluate how the emotional intelligence and nursing leadership can improve the health condition of the patients. Hence the objective of this paper is to develop an understanding of the following research question: What nursing interventions can be taken by the professionals to explore the utility of the emotional intelligence to treat their health care problems effectively? Methods By the help of the quantitative research approach, the research question of this study can be fruitfully accomplished. Post-positivism paradigm has been chosen for this research that will guide the researchers in an appropriate way where the researchers can collect positive data and represent them in realistic manner for having accurate information. Research design With the help of the quasi-experimental research design, the researchers can be concerned about the internal validity of the collected data as the control groups and treatment might not be easily comparable at the baseline. Thus through proper research approach the researchers can evaluate correct data and information regarding the impact of emotional intelligence and nursing leadership over the well being of the patients (Methodology, 2007). Sampling and sample size For this particular research analysis, the researchers will select a total of 100 respondents including the patients and their families so that the research purpose can be fulfilled. Purposive sampling technique will be selected as the researchers have a certain purpose in their minds, based on which they proceed with their analysis (Thompson, 1992). Through various surveys and interviews, the researchers can approach the respondents with a proper questionnaire from which reliable outcomes can be obtained. Variables Both the independent and dependent variables are being selected for this analysis where the respondents will be chosen from different demographic variables such as ages, gender, income groups, health care problems, etc. The independent variable is the process adopted by the researchers on which they have complete control. The characteristics of the respondents, on the other hand, are the dependent variables through which effective outcomes can be achieved. Measurement instruments Different types of tools have been used in this research such as surveys, interviews, indexes, scales and various informal observations by which expected research outcomes can be derived. This way the reliability and validity of the research information can be ensured. Data collection Quantitative primary data can be selected in this research through which the perspectives and opinions of the participants can be collected through a proper questionnaire in the interviews and surveys so that they can be presented through graphs, charts, etc. Quantitative secondary data can also be used where the past records will be referred to or analysed by the researchers and numerically represented to reach out to the effective outcomes. Ethics approval Prior consent of the participants must be evaluated. They should not be forced or provoked to respond to the raised questionnaires. Dyslexia Essays - Educational Psychology, Special Education
Dyslexia Whether we graduate from highschool or college we all hope to find a challenging career that will propel us forward in today`s society. For those suffering from dyslexia this only adds to the frustration and fears associated with seeking employment. Many adults with dyslexia or other forms of learning disabilities never disclose their disability in interviews or once employed for fear of being discriminated against. Several investigators have noted, however, that many persons with learning disabilities adjust well to the demands and complexities of adulthood. (Greenbaum et al. 1996). The basic cause of dyslexia is still not known, however, much research is being done to determine the problems underlying dyslexia. In many cases, dyslexia is highly inherited. Studies have shown a number of genes that may set the stage for its development. Characteristics of dyslexia are now more apparent to educators than ever before. Early educational interventions are helping individuals to manage their dyslexia. There have been some studies that attend to accommodating persons with learning disabilities in post-secondary and occupational settings. Only a few articles will be reviewed having been found worthy of this subject. However, before reviewing the articles, in order to gain a greater understanding of the types of learning disabilities people face lets define one of the most significant learning problems: dyslexia. A Type of Learning Disability: What is Dyslexia? The word dyslexia is derived form the Greek dys (meaning poor or inadequate) and lexis (works or language). Dyslexia is a learning disability characterized by problems in expressive or receptive, oral or written language. Problems may emerge in reading, spelling, writing, speaking, or listening. Dyslexia is not a disease; it has no cure. Dyslexia describes a different kind of mind, often gifted and productive, that learns differently. Dyslexia is not the result of low intelligence nor is the problem solely intelligence. An unexpected gap exists between learning aptitude and achievement in school. Dyslexia is not truly a visual or auditory problem, but a language problem. Dyslexia results from differences in the structure and function of the brain. People with dyslexia are unique; each having individual strengths and weaknesses. Many dyslexics are creative and have unusual talents in areas such as art, athletics, architecture, graphics, electronics, mechanics, drama, music, engineering, and medical professions. Dyslexics often show special talent in areas that require visual, spatial, and motor integration. Their problems in language processing distinguish them as a group. This means that the dyslexic has problems translating language to thought (as in listening or reading) or thought to language (as in writing or speaking). After looking at what dyslexia means and some characteristics of this disability now lets look at a study of learning disabilities in the workplace. Research by Greenbaum, Graham, and Scales (1996) adults with learning disabilities in the work place indicate that most adults adjust well to the demands and complexities of adulthood. The purpose of this study was to identify occupational and social status of adults with learning disabilities once after college. This study was conducted at the University of Maryland. Only eighty-one students with learning disabilities received assistance from the office of Disability Support Services during a twelve-year span from 1980 to 1992. In the study conducted by Greenbaum, Graham, and Scales (1996), out of the 81 former students, 49 adults with learning disabilities agreed to be interviewed about their current employment and social status. The study was based on increasing reports of adults with learning disabilities in recent years and the questions about the efficacy of special education services. As Patton and Polloway (1992) cited by Greenbaum et al. (1996) noted, the scenario for many adults with learning disabilities is characterized by unemployment, low pay, part-time work, frequent job changes, non-interaction with community, limitations in independent living, and limited social lives. Several investigators within this study noted persons with disabilities adjust well in adulthood years. Greenbaum et al. (1996) found that a number of adults with learning disabilities were employed in white-collar jobs (e.g. lawyer, urban planner, and real estate investor). Thirty seven percent of adults with learning disabilities studied by Gerber et al. as cited by Greenbaum et al., classed as highly successful in their job, eminence within their occupation, earned income, job satisfaction and education. Within all three studies, one factor for success for adults with learning disabilities was the level of education. Persons with mild learning disabilities who dropped out of high school are often employed at a lower rate than persons with mild disabilities who graduated. (Edgar, l987; Hasazi, Gordon, Zigmond & Thornton, l985). Persons with learning disabilities who graduated from college are

5 TD HR Nurturing An Ethical And Diverse Workplace Coursework 5 TD HR Nurturing An Ethical And Diverse Workplace ââ¬â Coursework Example Nurturing an Ethical and Diverse Workplace of affiliation Nurturing an Ethical and Diverse Workplace I would form organizational multicultural teams to reap the benefits of diversity. Step one I seek for employeesââ¬â¢ diversity information including age, gender, nationality, ethnicity, race, and education background amongst others. Since accessing this information would be limited, I would offer to sign a confidentiality nondisclosure form or acknowledgment (Cox, 2001). I would also access the human resources policies for information on organizational diversity management.Step two I would then classify the employees into four generations namely traditionalists, generation Y, generation X, and baby boomers. Each generation would be formed of employees with disabilities, and different employeesââ¬â¢ ethical and racial makeup amongst other diversity considerations (Cox, 2001). Step threeThe team would be reinforced using staff survey, to obtain and list work experiences of each w ork member in the company. From the list, I would focus on building teams of employees who represent cross-functional capabilities (Cox, 2001). At all costs, the representation of team members would people from different departments, and who do not perform the same job functions. In every group, staff training will be done and team work provided and findings reviewed for multicultural competence work. Additionally, multicultural teamwork would involve integrating, multicultural skills development into staff development; introduce self assessments, goals setting, and evaluation of performance; and set board diversity goals. The teams would also be mixed up to include salaried, professional, and casual workers who participate from all job perspectives and functions.Step four In each team, I would then identify employees with diverse cultural experiences outside work to assist in overseeing engagement around the vision, goals, and objectives of the organization. This person would overs ee integration of culturally specific practices, and membersââ¬â¢ acceptance and adjustments to differences (Cox, 2001). From the nominated culturally experienced employee, I would receive feedback for use in modification of organizational practices and processes.References Cox, T. (2001). World Religions Report Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
World Religions Report - Research Paper Example It believes in the spreading the message of Christ to the entire world and making all the people as the children of god on the basis of baptism. Jesus Christ is considered as the founder of it with the date of its origin being around first millennium AD (Chavis, 2009). In terms of creation of the man, this religion holds to its belief of man as being created by god with a soul and Adam as being the first man. Catholicism has a firm belief in only one supreme authority that is of god, that alone is the creator of heaven and earth. He is the infinite power that embodies all the traits of wisdom, goodness, justice and love; all of which are reflected in his creation of universe and human kind. The main source of the authority for the Catholics comes from the Bible, Tradition, the Creeds, the Bishops and the Pope among others but the ultimate authority is in the hands of the Christ (Bennett, 2010). The religion of Catholicism also comes with the belief that the human race was created in perfect innocence and justice but later it got tainted by the temptation of Satan the angel of evil. Adam and Eve, in the influence of Satan deferred to selfishness and lack of trust in their creator and hence this first sin of disobedience resulted in the death of the spiritual side of the human race. But god being all merciful and kind provided the human race an opportunity to be graced by the eternal life from god in return from his/her practice of baptism (Bennett, 2010). The religion also embodies the belief that Jesus is the true god and all the things were created through him. He was crucified by the human enemies in order to meet the divine justice for the disobedience and sins of man and he became a human (Bennet, 2010). The religion of Catholicism is also of the view that the act of sin corrupts a man and is an act of shunning god, which in turn robs the grace of manââ¬â¢s soul and deprives

Highlight important points - Essay Example The series presents twelve substitutes that have socio-economic structures that extend the probabilities for equity, oneness, fairness, justice and a firm society (Bell 50). Some of these originate from diverse dispensations, some bear a national or global level, some come up because of revolutionary movements, some governments adopt while others reject such models in their policies. In these narratives, the female figures explicate on their role to form these models and depict their unique challenges and viewpoints in the movements. The book addresses an augmenting acceleration of making water, oil, land and the natural world a commodity, an issue that has elicited the matter of power play and the issue of taking away resources that some communities have survived and sustained themselves with since time immemorial. Oil is one instance where the domination of international affiliations has elicited displacement of masses of people, conflicts in the social arena and destroyed the relationship between aboriginal communities and their surroundings (Bell 18). The book asserts how diverse groups from the entire globe are struggling to shield an alternative comprehension of the globe and how people ought to handle it, however (Bell 21). They observe resources such as oil as a parcel of the worldwide commons, the collection of natural resources, fundamental services, social spaces, and cultural diversities that should be of public trust that everyone ought to enjoy rather than merchandise for sale. The Spanish term ââ¬Å"el bien comunâ⬠meaning the common good, summarizes the conception of such assets. The basic notion of life, intelligence, inter-relationships, normal culture and earthââ¬â¢s treasures lies behind the commons and are not capital. In all places, aboriginal people are claiming their independence over their land, which inculcates the autonomy to self-ruling and ardent control

Election 1912 Essay Example for Free
Election 1912 Essay In the election of 1912, candidates Woodrow Wilson, Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft and Eugene Debs competed for the spot as President of the United States. Wilson represented the Democratic Party, Roosevelt, the Progressive, Taft, the Republican and Debs, the Socialist. Although there were four candidates in the running, most would agree that the real competition was between Wilson and Roosevelt. A few of the many issues during the time of this election concerned trusts, womenââ¬â¢s suffrage and tariffs. Wilson thought that trusts, or big monopolistic businesses, should be eliminated all together, while Roosevelt wanted to place limits on them. Roosevelt openly supported womenââ¬â¢s suffrage and Wilson wanted individual states to decide voting rights for women. Wilson wanted to get rid of tariffs along with trusts, but Roosevelt wanted to keep them in order to protect wages. There was still an indecisiveness between state power and national power as we have seen in nearly every era preceding. Canââ¬â¢t Bring A Bull Moose Down In the first ad, the audience we were trying to address was the everyday, common men. We felt that people could relate to facing hard times and adversities and overcoming them. As common people ourselves we found these acts admirable and felt that the common man of 1912 would have viewed them the same way. This ad is supposed to show viewers about how persistence is an important quality in a president and how Roosevelt clearly showed that quality when he kept speaking for 90 minutes after being shot in the chest. This way, viewers will know that Roosevelt will be persistent in his original and elected beliefs when making decisions for their country. What Women Want The audience we were trying to address in the second ad were women. Although women did not have voting rights, they still had a fair amount of political pull. The issue of voting rights would have been a very important one to women everywhere at the time and the fact that Wilson did not even acknowledge them was an issue, whereas Roosevelt supported womenââ¬â¢s suffrage in his campaign. The message of this ad tried to get voters to retract support for Wilson because he didnââ¬â¢t encourage womenââ¬â¢s rights and support Roosevelt because he did.

My Philosophy of Education Essay -- Teaching Teachers Careers Essays
My Philosophy of Education Several experiences have influenced my philosophy of education. Some of these experiences have been good, others have not, but they have all proved invaluable in shaping my methods of teaching. As a non-traditional student, I have learned many lessons since being out in the ââ¬Å"real worldâ⬠that have changed my opinions about learning and teaching. I believe in Social Reconstructionism, Progressivism, and discipline in the classroom. I desire to become a high school teacher because I feel that students at this age needs a positive role model and someone they can speak to without talking down to them. I want to encourage my students every step of the way, as they bolster their confidence in themselves and their ability to make the right decisions. Students at this age do not understand the importance of their education and take it for granted at this stage of their life. My father instilled in me a passion for learning, at a very young age. I want to share this enthusiasm with my students. I would like to specialize in science because of all the scientific discoveries that are being made today and yet to come. As a Social Reconstructionist, I believe the curriculum should address the global issues and social problems that science can create. Some discussion topics for my class would include animal testing, cloning, genetic research, DNA research, water and air pollution, and overpopulation. My students would research the topic and its effects, prepare a paper, give a speech, and lead the class discussion of the topic sharing their own viewpoint. This process would develop my studentsââ¬â¢ critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. By employing class discussions, cooperati... ...ial in the lives of their students. I want to be a positive influence in the development of every studentââ¬â¢s education. Being an idealistic person, I want to be so much for my students; a teacher that shows caring, compassion, a helper with their problems, and a positive role model. After my students leave my classroom, I want them to know more than just a few vocabulary words that they memorized for a test. I want to provide my students with a solid foundation that they can continue to build upon long after they have left my classroom. I never want my students to later struggle to fill in the gaps of their education because I was an inadequate teacher. Above all else, I want to pass on to my students my love and joy for learning, and help them to see that education is the key to their future endeavors. Social Media and Network Technology
Colleges will need to embrace these new communities in order to keep up with recruitment of the younger generations, student to student interaction, student to professor interaction. Backbone and Linked are some of the internet communities that we will need to embrace to encourage our recruitment and student interaction. Backbone has been around since 2004 and is still growing in popularity. Backbone gives you the availability to send an instant message, an email, post discussions, provide media, and provide detail information.Colleges that have a Backbone page and interact with Backbone has the ability to recruit sophomores and Juniors in high schools not only in the surrounding areas but relied. This ability provides an advantage to have a more diverse student body. For young college students Backbone is a mean they utilize to communicate with other students about the activities going on in the campus. They also use this communication tool to converse about class assignments, organ ization functions, sports, and daily activities.Students who do not live on campus, Backbone allows them to still experience college life and the inclusion of student activities. College professors can also utilize this communication tool to correspond and interact with al students, including students who participate at satellite campuses. The surrounding community will also have the availability to interact with the students because they will be able to show the students the history of the area, and support the college with financial scholarships and the sports arenas. Most of the surrounding community makes up the professors, educators, the educator families and friends. Professors will have the accessibility to be active not only with the students but with the students families as well. As a parent of a college student, I enjoy being able to see what the students are doing, what classes are troublesome, the activities the students are participating in, and when parents can interac t with the student at school. The disadvantages of Backbone include accessibility, lack of personable interaction, lack of social interaction, non-clarifying answers, misunderstandings of context of messages and pictures, invasion of privacy, and possible compromise of security information. Yet, these disadvantages can be kept down to a minimum by the college handbook and the student conduct codes by the dents themselves. Most college's network security will keep secure information safe from any breaches or hacking. Linked will be very beneficial for our graduating students, faculty and local business. This social network will allow for the local and national business to see the types of students we are producing in the workforce. Linked will allow the students to make contacts with others in the corporate field of their choice and possibly encourage the company to reach an agreement with the college on training of their current staff. Our faculty will be able o utilize this social ne twork by seeing what the other colleges are teaching and producing in the coming work force and learn what skills the companies are looking for, and provide those skills to our students. The only down side to Linked will be headhunters from other colleges recruiting our faculty to come and work for them. But we can counter offer our faculty, pay retainer fees, and sign binding contracts with the faculty to keep them from leaving our facility. We will be using the waterfall model for the implementation of a Backbone page and Linked page. The system velveteen life cycle for this process we will need to make sure that all students will have access to the college Wi-If on campus, which we currently have in place all over the campus. Our second phase will include making sure that students and faculty will have accessibility to a computer, which currently we already have in place in the library and common areas. Our third phase of the process will require the college to set up a Backbone an d Linked account and have our IT department to maintain the accounts. Fourth phase of the process will require the college to get the rod out to the students about both pages on the internet and require all of our faculty to friend us on each site. The final phase will be having our IT department to hire someone to maintain both pages for content on the page, the context of the messages on the page and be a monitor for any violation of student conduct codes. The only disadvantage for using these websites, we will not be able to modify the systems. The advantages outweigh the disadvantage immensely because startup cost will be at a bare minimum, and we will still be able to get an idea of how many of our dents are using to communicate with one another by the amount of friend request we receive and the amount of conversation context on the page.

Tattoo Ink Chemistry
Have you ever wondered what ingredients are used to make tattoo ink? The short answer to the question is: You cant be 100% certain. Manufacturers of inks and pigments are not required to reveal the contents. A professional who mixes their own inksà from dry pigments will be most likely to know the composition of the inks. However, the information is proprietaryââ¬âa trade secretââ¬âso you may or may not get answers to questions. Most Not Ink Most tattoo inks technically arent inks. They are composed of pigments that are suspended in a carrier solution. Contrary to popular belief, pigments usually are not vegetable dyes. Todays pigments primarily are metal salts. However, some pigments are plastics and there are probably some vegetable dyes, too. The pigment provides the color of the tattoo. The purpose of the carrier is to disinfect the pigment suspension, keep it evenly mixed, and provide for ease of application.à à Toxicity This article is concerned primarily with the composition of the pigment and carrier molecules. However, there are important health risks associated with tattooing, both from the inherent toxicity of some of the substances involved and unhygienic practices. To learn more about the risks associated with a particular tattoo ink, check out the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for any pigment or carrier. The MSDS wont be able to identify all chemical reactions or risks associated with chemical interactions within the ink or the skin, but it will give some basic information about each component of the ink. Pigments and tattoo inks are not regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA.) However, the FDA is examining tattoo inks to determine the chemical composition of the inks, learn how they react and break down in the body, how light and magnetism react with inks, and whether there are short- and long-term health hazards associated with ink formulations or methods of applying the tattoos. Other Issues The oldest pigments used in tattoos came from using ground up minerals and carbon black. Todays pigments include the original mineral pigments, modern industrial organic pigments, a few vegetable-based pigments, and some plastic-based pigments. Allergic reactions, scarring, phototoxic reactions (i.e., a reaction from exposure to light, especially sunlight), and other adverse effects are possible with many pigments. The plastic-based pigments are very intensely colored, but many people have reported reactions to them. There are also pigments that glow in the dark or in response to black (ultraviolet) light. These pigments are notoriously risky. Some may be safe, but others are radioactive or otherwise toxic. Heres a table listing the colors of common pigments used in tattoo inks. It isnt exhaustive.à Pretty much anything that can be used as a pigment has been at some time. Also, many inks mix one or more pigment: à Composition of Tattoo Pigments Color Materials Comment Black Iron Oxide (Fe3O4)Iron Oxide (FeO)CarbonLogwood Natural black pigment is made from magnetite crystals, powdered jet, wustite, bone black, and amorphous carbon from combustion (soot). Relationship Between Nature And Nurture - 1262 Words
Crystal Joseph There are 7 major perspectives in psychology. Compare and contrast how these perspectives would explain the relationship between nature and nurture in the psychological development of humans. Nurture versus nature is a common argument on how people psychologically develop. Although some support that innate characteristics are the crucial factor towards how people mentally advance, the environment we live in and the people we are surrounded by does play a significant role in how we progress. Aspects of nature and nurture are observed in each of the current psychological perspectives, but how each one helps with the psychological development of humans can be similar yet different. Neuroscience is a psychological perspective that focuses on the interaction between the brain and the body and the neural relay of messages throughout the body. In nature, the brain releases different messages to provide emotions for people. For example, the brain sometimes releases serotonin, a neurotransmitter that affects a personââ¬â¢s attitude and arousal (Myers, 2010). In terms of nurture, the way people are raised and how they interact with the environment certainly affects their brain. For example, the broken windows theory mentions how abandoning the environment can promote criminal activities. Taxation - Theory - Practice &Law Collecting Essential Fund
Question: Discuss about the Taxation, Theory, Practice Law for Collecting Essential Fund. Answer: Introduction All the nations have important taxation laws and taxation system that help the government of countries in collecting essential fund for their necessary expenditure like infrastructure development of the country and to maintain the law and order of the country, for defense of the country etc. Income tax imposes to the residents as well as non-residents as per the income criteria and the income tax rule of the country (Hamilton, Deutsch and Raneri, 2001). The income tax is a levy that the government levied on the financial income generated by the entire companies within the constitutional jurisdiction, it is a annual fees imposed on earned income along with the unearned income to the citizen of the country. The income tax collected by the government helps it to develop the infrastructure of the country, provide better facilities to its citizens and therefore any responsible citizen is bound to pay the taxes to his or her government as per the guidance provided in the legal system of th at particular country (Krever and Black, 2007). Any firm or individual failing to pay the due taxes are bound to face the penalties and charges pressed by the court by taking into consideration the laws, rules and regulations that can be applied in that situation. The income tax imposes on two types of income; ordinary income capital gain to the residents of the country. Main body I. Californian Copper Syndicate Ltd v Harris (Surveyor of Taxes) (1904) 5 TC 159 In this specific case, the main objective or purpose of the business was to get hold of a land that contained copper. But eventually the company or organization did not make any attempt of removing copper from the land and after a point of time sold the land to another firm. The verdict given by the court stated that the land could be used for any purpose that would generate income and selling the land fulfilled the criteria (Law.ato.gov.au, 2016). On the basis of this reason, the selling of the land was considered to be a general incident for the tax payers company from the perspective of taxation law. II. Scottish Australian Mining Co Ltd v FC of T (1950) 81 CLR 188 In this particular case, the business organization or firm started a business venture of coal mining on a property that was acquired by the firm. After a certain period of time, the coal was removed from the land and after that the firm took the decision of selling off the land. In order to make the sale more profitable the firm developed the infrastructure of the land by subdividing the property and making roads on it. Since the firm was not in the business of real estate so the selling off of the land could not be considered under the category of commercial business. As a result of it the court gave the verdict that the profit or revenue collected by the organization as a result of selling the land would not be measured. As a consequence of this, the income made by the organization was capital in nature (Coursehero.com, 2016). In this specific case it has been observed that mining company after excavated the entire coal from a land decided to sell the land and in order to improve t he value of the land the company made significant infrastructure development in that particular land such as the land had been subdivided, road constructed in the land and above all the company took grant to build public institutions like schools, churches, parks and railway station in the land thus, it is profit making activities and intention of the company and the company functioned as land developer instead of the core mining business operator thus, the income from the selling of the land must be assessed as assessable income (Nethercott, Richardson and Devos, 2011). III. FCT v Whitfords Beach Pty Ltd (1982) 150 CLR In this particular case the tax payer taken into consideration is a company that wanted to get a field of underdeveloped property at the beach of Whit Fords. The property under discussion was located just at the front of the beach and thus could easily be used for the purpose of fishing. After a few years when all the problematic shares of the firm got sold as the company got a very good order. As a result of this, the new shareholders acquired this particular land and in order to increase the productivity of the shareholders they divided the land amongst themselves and sold the different parts at the optimum profit. Though the part of the land got sold, the new shareholders got involved in a disagreement about whether they should include the profit that they earned in their regular income or not. On the other hand as per the verdict of the court the shareholders can sell the land with the aim or objective of generating a revenue or profit from that particular land (Iknow.cch.com.au, 2016). Moreover, because of this particular reason, the firm established a business of land development which will generate profit by the selling of the land on one hand and on the other, the profit earned by the members would fall under the category of regular income. The verdict of the court was that during the time of purchasing or buying that particular land, the motive of the organization was to find out way through which the income from the property can be increased thus, the organization or firm developed the land on one hand and on the other hand sold it too for which the investment can be looked upon as a commercial investment and the sale of the land is quite an ordinary incident for which the revenue earned through the process is regarded as regular income. There were most of the members of the High Court (Gibbs Cj, Mason and Wilson JJ) detained that the income from the selling of land must be assessable under section 25 (1) of the income tax Assessment Act (1936)(ITAA) . Murphy J instead finalized that the income from the selling of land is assessable under the 2nd part of the section 26(a) of the ITAA (1936) as it was a income from a income generating scheme. The final justice by Gibbs CJ, Mason and Wilson JJ held that the action of the tax payers must be considered a business of land development instead of realization of capital asset. IV. Statham Anor v FC of T 89 ATC 4070 In this particular case, the whole matter is related to that of income tax. The tax that was viable was both measured as well as adjusted in a very wrong and erroneous manner (Law.ato.gov.au, 2016). For this reason the court took the decision that the commission has to take the responsibility of as justing the income of the estates. V. Casimaty v FC of T 97 ATC 5135 The situation states the entire case and there is no intention of making any profit from the deal. Moreover, the real fact is that the individual intend to make profit from selling a definite part of the land. The divergence occurred due to the explanation and there was a doubt on whether the profit incurred by the sell in taxable or not. The tax commissioner had assessed that the income generated by the tax payer by selling of the subdivided blocks under the section 25(1) of the ITAA (1936) based on the profit made by the taxpayer from running the business of subdividing as well as selling land (Law.ato.gov.au, 2016). However, Ryan J. from the federal court the tax payer did not have any direct advertisement for the potential purchaser or he did not construct any dwelling house on that land, the internal fencing as well as other development do not provide any indication that the taxpayer is running a business of land developer (Law.ato.gov.au, 2016). Besides this, as per Ryan J. the tax payer possessed as well as consistently holds the Acton View mainly for domestic or residential usage along with the intention of firm production from the land. Therefore, the tax payer is not entitled to provide any ordinary income tax for the land selling. VI. Moana Sand Pty Ltd v FC of T 88 ATC 4897 The above case study describes that a corporate was carrying out its business of sand and the company owned a land where the company excavated sand from the land. Moreover, the company did not want to trade the land to any other company till the value of the land elevate, because the company wanted to earn more return from the investment. The inclination of the raising price of land the company kept that particular land for a long period (Law.ato.gov.au, 2016). In this situation the conflict had been raised on the taxable amount. The court declared that the land can be trade to anyone for the commercial use. VII. Crow v FC of T 88 ATC 4620 The deciding case is a case related to a farmer, hence it assist in considering the tax payers. Therefore, it aids in observing inclined purchases for enlarging the land area and therefore, the conflict is made in regard of the particular land (Law.ato.gov.au, 2016). Therefore, the completion of the deal helped in definite in order to increment of the scheme for this specific case of the farmer. VIII. McCurry Anor v FC of T 98 ATC 4487 The case described that that the land was owned by two brothers and there were few houses built in this particular land. Moreover, in order to renovate the land the houses from the particular land must be removed. The conflict increased on whether the brothers are forced to make payment for the tax related to that specific land (Law.ato.gov.au, 2016). And at the ending the court gave the judgment by the side of the brothers and a order came from the court that the two brothers did not need to pay any levy for that particular land. Conclusion In order to assess the tax for an entity it is necessary to understand the taxation process of the country and must have the knowledge about the taxation law of the country. The understanding of the ordinary income and capital tax gain is necessary for assessing the income tax of the entities (Woellner, 2013). In the undertaken case studies the judgments has been made by the effective knowledge of the ordinary income law of the country Australia. References Coursehero.com. Was the American Revolution Inevitable free essay sample
Even though the American Revolution was imposed because of undisputed land in North America to be claim neither for France or Britain it would eventually happen because of Britain Was increasing the economic, social and political differences between the colonists and Great Britain A primary cause of the colonists desire for independence was the frustration of overbearing taxes and economic control over the colonies. The British operated the colonist under mercantilism which is aimed at self-reliance and strengthening the national economy by accumulating revenue, gaining loonies, and establishing a favorable balance of trade. The economic system mercantilism ultimately leads to the the colonies losing profits to the British as they taxed the colonies. In addition, the British passed the Navigation Act that required the colonist to primarily trade with the British. As a result, the colonists resented the action of the British, which leads to conflict between the British and the colonist Throughout history, the British believed that the British policy of salutary neglect was important for British to enforce in order o bring net profits into the mother-country. It directly taxed the colonists by forcing them to pay a tax on all printed items that they produced in the colonies. The colonists reacted by the formation off Stamp Act Congress in which they challenged the constitutionality of both the Stamp and Sugar Act by declaring that only the colonists elected representatives could tax them.By the colonist refusing to buy products of the British, it ultimately hurt the British economy. Also the Son of Liberty were created in order to oppose the Act placed on the colonist. Every Act and taxes placed on the colonist allow the independence of the colonist to be inevitable. An other factor in making the Revolution unavoidable is that the colonies come more increasingly diverse and were diverging from colonist of British population. There were multiple groups that came in population such as Germans, Scots-Irish, Irish and other groups.Even though, the colonist were diverse, there was a distinct identity of America that separated America from the other home countries based on their social status. Also colonists aggressive and resentment leads to conflict known as the Boston Massacre. The bitterness led to conflict which leads to the inevitable push for possible independence. Finally, the colonists resented the political system by the British because of their lack of representation in the Parliament . The British defended political system by representing virtually to colonies.Being governed under British rule, the colonist considered themselves as British citizens, but felt the political system is unfair in which they declared, No taxation without representation. Furthermore, as Britain tried to gain full control over the colonies it allow the colonists to reject their authority. For Example, the Boston Tea Parry is an historical example of how British tried to control of looniest but as a result the colonist dress up like Indians and threw the tea in the ocean. However, the colonists saw them as intolerable people in response to the Boston Tea Party purpose of occurring. Lastly, the introduction of Enlightenment and writing of Declaration of Independence change government rule from a monarchical rule to a government that people rule themselves. It is possible that the British could have avoided some of the conflict during the era of the American Revolution by granting some of the requested of the colonists and less to the subject to the loyalty to the crown.Even if the colonist request were completed this would not have delay the inevitableness of the separation of British and the colonist. The independence through the American Revolution allow the birth of rights and opportunities to many minorities in the late asses and 1 sass. To conclude, the conflicts leading to the American Revolution was of increasing frustration between the British and colonists. Because of British need to pay off debt from the French and Indian War, the desire for British to manage their affairs of the colonists, which allow the American Revolution to be inevitable.

Zora Neale Hurston s The Gilded Six-Bits duologue is written in heavy idiom. Its intent is to excite the reader about a foreign civilization and reveal elements of it. Hurston uses storytelling to carry through the potency of the idiom # 8217 ; s success. For illustration, Joe recalls his first brush with Mr. Slemmons: Ah went down to de sto tuh git a box of lye and Ah seen im standin on de corner talkin to some of de mens, and Ah come on dorsum and went scrubbin de floor, and he passed and tipped his chapeau whilst Ah was scouring the stairss.
